WinForMe.com's Automatic Sweepstakes Entry Service

How to Manage Your Sweepstakes Email

Although WinForMe.com opts you out of receiving marketing whenever possible, entering online sweepstakes automatically includes a lot of email. Some of these mails will be helpful, such as entry confirmation. Others, like win notifications, will be absolutely vital. And still others, such as promotions and newsletters, will be hit or miss; some you'll look forward to reading, whereas others won't interest you at all. In order to keep you from being overwhelmed, here is a guide to help you manage your sweepstakes email.

1. Create a Separate Email Account for Sweepstakes Entry
WinForMe.com allows you to enter a separate email address to use only for your sweepstakes entry. We strongly recommend that you start a brand new email account and never use it for anything other than entries by WinForMe. Don't give it out to friends or family, don't use it to enter sweepstakes on your own, and don't use it to fill out surveys or other online forms. This has a couple of clear advantages:

  • You will keep your personal email free of clutter from sweepstakes entry.
  • You will know when a win comes through WinForMe, so long as they notify you by email.
  • You will know that any supposed "win notifications" that go to your regular email account are not legitimate.
  • You will have a smaller amount of mail to search through for win notifications.

    2. Check your Sweepstakes Entry Email Frequently
To keep your email from getting out of control, check it frequently. Once a day is nice, but try to make time to read through your inbox a couple of times a week at a minimum. Most email win notifications come with a deadline for receiving a response before they give your prize away to the next potential winner; don't let a great prize pass you by!

    3. Read your Email Carefully
Many sweepstakes sponsors use nice, obvious subject lines for their prize notifications. "Congratulations! You've won the XYZ Sweepstakes!" is hard to overlook. But many others send win notification emails that are difficult to separate from a regular newsletter or promotion until you open your mail. So be sure to read your mails carefully to be sure you don't accidentally overlook an important win! Luckily, while you are at it, you can also...

    4. Be Careful of Spam Filters
TIf your email comes with a built-in spam filter, be sure to check those mails regularly as well. Win notifications get shunted into spam folders all the time, and careful checking could be the difference between a wonderful prize win and ending up empty-handed. Check the help files of your email provider for tips on how to refine your spam filters to allow wanted mail to get through without trouble.

    5. Unsubscribe from Newsletters that Don't Interest You
Some people believe that unsubscribing from unwanted email will only cause you to receive more marketing. However, the newsletters that you receive from sweepstakes sponsors will normally come with legitimate methods to opt out of unwanted mails. Doing this regularly will keep your mail neat and tidy.
